The Ordinary Skincare and Foundation // Review

Hello again,

Around a month ago I bought a few products from a brand called The Ordinary which I have absolutely loved using. These products have made a huge difference to my skin so I thought I’d share my thoughts on the brand here on my lil’ old blog.

Who are ‘The Ordinary’? // About The Brand

The Ordinary is a brand that prides itself on it’s honesty and integrity to the consumer. Unlike a lot of other brands they don’t claim standard methods of creating their products are ‘groundbreaking’ – they’re honest. They tell you exactly what is in each and every product, how to use it effectively and don’t overload their branding with fancy words that can mislead the consumer – in fact if you go on the product description on their website they have a really easy checklist to tell you what is in the product and what isn’t so you know exactly what your putting on that beautiful skin of yours. With the ordinary what you pay for is what you get, and luckily for our purse strings they also work hard to make their products affordable in price. From looking into the brand the overall feel I have about ‘The Ordinary’ is that as a brand they really care about being honest with the consumer and creating products that are actually going to be good for your skin – not crammed with lots of chemicals you simply don’t need which if you asks me makes them pretty awesome!!.

About the products // The products and what they do

I’ve personally tried the products, Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA, 100% Plant Derived Squalene, Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% and their Lightweight Serum Foundation. These are just some I’ve tried but their are plenty of others too – just read up on what will work for your skin and give it a go!

Alpha Arubtin 5% + HA is a water based gel like formula that helps reduce the appearance of spots and hyper-pigmentation – I personally get really bad spots and hyper-pigmentation so this baby really does the trick for my skin. It’s formula is super light when and soaks into your skin in a matter of seconds so you can quickly move onto the next step of your skincare regime ASAP!

As for 100% Plant Derived Squalene – this is definitely my favourite product that I have tried from the brand. It’s a hydrating oil that is already naturally found in your skin and boy oh boy does it make a difference. I would highly recommend if like me, you suffer from dehydrated skin or if you find your skin gets quite congested or prone to spots and black heads, as a little added hydration can make a huge difference with those skin issues!

Another of their incredible products I love is Alpha Arbutin 5% which is an amazing antioxidant that improves skin texture and tone, be careful not to use too much too frequently, however, as it can irritate the skin if you do as this is such a concentrated formulation. Personally I’ve ever had any issues with this irritating my skin, all I’ve found is that it gives amazing results and has made a huge difference in how my skin looks.

When it comes to the Lightweight Serum Foundation I could talk about it all day, but as this is a blog post I’ll try not to ramble too much! The thing I love about this foundation is the shades actually look like real skin shades, their not super orange toned or pink toned – the shade I use really just looks like my real skin tone. It’s a super lightweight formula so it doesn’t feel like you have anything on your skin and after using it your skin doesn’t break out or suddenly have super clogged pores either. The finish is really natural and the coverage is just enough to cover any blemishes you may have but isn’t so heavy it looks like your skin is caked in makeup.

So… do they work? // My thoughts and results

I cannot stress enough how much of a difference these products have made to my skin. My breakouts are much less frequent and no where near as bad as my skin is healthier, my acne scars are almost completely gone and my skin has a gorgeous healthy glow. I actually have the confidence now to go makeup free and not worry if everyone is judging how bad my skin is. The products are super affordable too so if your not sure if the brand is for you just try one products out and see if it is for you which I’m sure it will because this brand is simply fabulous!

Well that’s it for today’s post! I hope you enjoy, if you did be sure to give it a like and reach out and tell me what posts you’d like to see from me! I’ll be back with a new post next week,

Until next time,

Bethan xx
